The beaches of the Costa Blanca are very proud when they obtains a “Blue Flag.
Every one who come to Spain loves going to the sunny and clean beaches.
If the beach has a Blue Flag it is an international mark for excellent beaches.
The flag is a guarantee to everyone, local or tourist that the beach has the highest quality of water, safety and environment education.
They are only awarded to coastal destinations that boast the highest quality of water. But also the facilities, safety, environmental education and management.
It is a trademark.
Not only for Spain but also for all the other 60 country who are a part of the organisation.
Foundation for Environment Education.
The organisation who give the Blue Flag is the “Foundation for Environment Education.”
It gives a certification to the Touristic places with certain standards.
The Foundation for Environment Education is a non-profit en non government organisation.
It operates in several continents: in Europe but also in Africa.
Also in North America and South America . Furthermore in Oceania and Asia.
The most important is that Foundation for Environment Education put high standards .
To sum up : standards for water quality, the water safety , the environmental information and education .
Equally important standards : the provision of services and environmental management.
In other words, the touristic resort are proud when they receive a Blue Flag from the Foundation for Environment Education.
Because is the the prove of high standard and quality of the beaches.
The organisation gives each year to the beaches of the different countries in the different continents.
In the past, the first who started with the creation of the Blue Flag was France.
In fact the coastal villages were awarded with the “Drapeau Bleu” as a prove of the bathing water quality.
It is a commitment to the environment and to the public who visit the beach and the marina .

Every year on the 4 of June the Foundation for Environment Education gives his awards.
So for the Councillors of the Costa Blanca town and villages is is a important day.
So they are very proud to have one .
Because the Blue Flag shows that the beaches of the region are of a good quality, good management and education.
