Javea, a beautiful town

Presently, Javea or Xabia in Spanish is one of the most beautiful town on the Costa Blanca.
Between  Alicante and Valencia  you can find  Javea.
Now, Javea is a popular tourist destination.
So, if you like beaches and the Blue Mediterranean Sea it is the place to be.

Beaches

In fact, the town has over 20 kilometers of coast. As a result, that there all sort of beaches.
Some of them have the Blue Flag . You find sandy beaches but also very nice coves.
For instance, the beach of “La Granadella” has a very nice cove.

On the beaches there are nice “chiringuito”  or beach bars. Mostly  in summer season  you can start your day with sunrise and the breakfast at the beach  till sunset with for example paella.
For instance, the beach in the center is sandy and very clean.
The lifeguards are there trough the summer. In spring and fall, they are there in the weekends.
Naturally there are children playgrounds and sport facilities.

Art the beach promenade there is also a large choice of bars and restaurants.

Javea is really a family destination.

Cuisine

The bars and restaurants have a large choice of typical Spanish food. To sum : fish, seafood, tapa’s , paella….

But also a great choice of international restaurants.

Climate

The weather is mostly sunny.
it has a typical Mediterranean climate . This means sunny hot summers. But also  sunny mild winters.
In the winter with an average temperature of 18 to 20 degrees.
In summer from 25 tot 30 degrees.

What to see in Javea

Toward the village , you find a historic center. With nearly middle ages narrow streets  to walk in .

In  the past, Javea had walls around the center.
Presently, you can see some remains of these fortifications.

If you want to see a church in pure Valencian Gothic style than the San Bartolomé church is the place to visit.
In the 16th century , is was build with local sandstone.
The church has a military look.  In the past, the pirates or Corsairs were a threat to the town nearby the coast.
On the Bartolomé church you can see even the loopholes  for the guns and arrows.

After the boulevard promenade, there is a choice of shopping possibilities.

Nature

In the northwest of the town, rises a nearly 750 meters rock . The summit is achievable with a good pair of shoes.  The path to the summit is gently.
It is worth the walking. Because at the top, you can see the Mediterranean  Sea and the bay.

Another very nice view you can get from the Massif Montgo and the Cabo de la nao.
With a bit of luck , you can see the island of Ibiza.

How to get there

Most tourist arrive at Alicante  airport. El Altet is 100 kilometers drive on the highway.

The airport of Valencia is 100 kilometers drive away.

Market

Busy  market on Thursday. It is the place to be food :fruit, vegetables, meat and fish .
But also for shoes, bags, clothes and holiday souvenirs

Tips for trips

First, Guadalest. It is a beautiful day trip in nature. In fact, away from the beach you explore the real Spain . In fact, you can even jump into the cold water of the Algar waterfalls.

Next, Calpe very popular as holiday destination.

At last, the nice town of Altea.
