Discover Moraira

Moraira is one of the village of the Costa  Blanca who is awarded as one of the most beautiful .
You find  Moraira between Alicante and Valencia.
It also one of the village at a nearly unspoiled coast.
In the past , till begin 1970 it was a little place with houses of fisherman’s.
Now, it is more a nearly exclusive tourist resort.

What to see in Moraira

There is a little castle on the Mediterranean sea-side. It was built-in 1742.
There is also a nice marina. And Moraira ha still his fisherman’s ; so there is a fish market with fish auctions.

You can enjoy the beach promenade with the palm tree or “palmeras”.
Behind the promenade  you can find designer boutiques. Then, it is also the place to find leather shoes and bags . Furthermore, there are some art galleries and shows with exclusive jewelry.


Besides Moraira has a nice night life scene. If you want, there are some late night clubs and discos . But also jazz bars and flamenco bars.

Behind the village, there are mountains. There are popular for hikers. If you love a walk in pine forests, you will be surprised of the splendid panoramas of the Mediterranean Sea. Take your camera with for beautiful shots.



Several  beaches has a Blue flag. The award of the quality for sea and beaches.
Some of the  beaches are sandy, other are more rocky.
In summer season there are beach guards.

And  starting from Juni till end October, you find also nice beach bars.
So kick of your shoes and enjoy a breakfast  or at sunrise for your last tapa and drink at the beach with a view on the Mediterranean Sea. Life is good  at the beach !





Naturally , you can also practice water sport. Go diving or snorkeling. Or do you prefer sailing or fishing ?


In fact, there is a great choice of restaurants and bars.
Naturally, you can find excellent seafood restaurants.

But do not forget to taste the local paella.

The specialty of the Costa Blanca region with the rice of Valencia. Or try “the arroz negro “, the black rice with ink of the octopus.

Additionally, there is also a large choice of international cuisine.



The climate is a Mediterranean climate .
Hot summers. Mild winters.


As we already mentioned, there is a daily fish market with actions.


There is also a large market for meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, house ware and holiday souvenirs.
Furthermore you can find good leather ( bags and shoes ) and jewelry.
This market is every Friday morning.


Fiesta or festival

As in many other tows in the South of Spain Moraira has his big festival of Moors and Christians festival.
In the past, the Moors were ex-pulsed by the Christians. Now, the locals celebrate this with their fiesta.
In fact, it is  a re-enactment with street processions , fire and cannons.
This fiesta continues the all week.  And ends with a fireworks and late night parties.

How to get in Moraira

By air
From Alicante airport El Altet  an hour drive to Moraira.
Then from Valencia airport also an hour drive.

By car
Follow the AP 7. exit Benissa on this motorway. then, follow Moraira.

Tip for trips

Even though , the all region is very  beautiful you can make a trip from Moraira to :

Do you want to see the famous rock of  Calpe ? Than the C 746  take you in half hour to Calpe. The coast road is very beautiful. So take your time ( and camera) to arrive at the Penyal d’Iffac . The 326 meters famous rock in the sea.


Time to discover Javea or Xabia . It take you an 18 minutes or 11 kilometers to another of the most beautiful village along the Costa Blanca.

Perhaps you want to explore Denia. Also a half hour drive along the N 332. The road and Denia are very beautiful, and worth done.

Altea. A half hour drive . If you take the old road the N332, you be will be rewarded with breathtaking views.


In contrast of Moraira :  Benidorm. You hate it or you love the most popular of the Costa Blanca. Count about 40 minutes or 40 kilometers.

Away from the coast and the beaches : Guadalest Algar waterfalls. This is old nice town inland. It is an hour drive or 50 kilometers.

As you can see,  Moraira and the surroundings are  worth a visit.  After all, till know it is a hidden germ on the Costa Blanca..
